Ion founded 101 on a simple conviction: every client's risks are unique and should be managed accordingly. A Chartered Accountant by training, he spent over seven years in a JSE-listed entity in various roles, rising from Financial Manager to Chief Executive Officer of the insurance segment.

A specialist in the contingency and alternative-risk-transfer space and the structures 101 builds today.

That's rare ground: few people have both run a structured-risk insurer and sat on the client's side of the table. He believes lasting risk management and strategy starts with understanding the business first, the numbers, the operations and the risk appetite of the client and structuring around it.

Relationships are his real currency; away from work he's a family man with a weakness for travel, good food and better wine.
