Retirement and Income

Do you have a savings plan, or an income plan for when work stops?

Accumulating capital and drawing an income from it are different disciplines. Retirement brings decisions about timing, drawdown, tax, liquidity, market risk and what should remain for a spouse or the next generation. Those choices need to work together.

What we offer

Build the income plan around real spending.

Income mapping

A solid teal right-pointing chevron arrow.
We map essential and discretionary income needs, available capital sources, expected longevity, inflation, tax and your ability to absorb market falls. We then consider how and when different assets are drawn, how much liquidity stays accessible, and how the plan interacts with estate and beneficiary arrangements.

Sequencing risk

We also weigh sequencing risk in the years just before and after retirement, when a market fall can do disproportionate damage to a drawdown plan, and how guaranteed and flexible income sources can be combined to manage it.

Accumulating vs retired

For those still accumulating, we review contribution strategy, the Two-Pot system where relevant, and whether the current path is likely to support the intended retirement. For retirees, the focus shifts to sustainable withdrawals, flexibility and regular review.

How we think about it

Retirement planning continues after retirement.

No drawdown rate or product removes uncertainty. The plan therefore needs margins, clear assumptions and a review process. Investment, income, tax and estate decisions are considered together so a change in one area does not create an unintended consequence elsewhere.

A plan set at retirement is a starting point, not a fixed outcome. We build in review points rather than assuming markets, health and spending will behave as modelled.
